Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
Air flow sensor provides DME control unit with engine load signal.

OPERATION
The intake air flow is determined from a signal produced by a potentiometer in the air flow meter. The potentiometer is connected to the measuring flap. As air is drawn into the engine, the flap is deflected which causes the wiper contact of the potentiometer to move. The potentiometer signal represents the air volume entering the engine.
