Coding the DME Control Unit

Various characteristic maps are integrated in the Digital Motor Electronics (DME) control unit in order to cover the different country-specific legislation and different vehicle types. These characteristic maps can be read directly in the "Actual value" menu with the system tester 9288.







In order to permit calling up of these characteristic maps, a 2-pin plug connection and a 3-pin plug connection are brought out of the DME wiring harness. These must be jumpered differently, depending on the country-specific version.

NOTE: As of model year 1991 the code for California and Japan is being deleted (identical worldwide)
