Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

1. Disarm air bag system as described under "Disarming and Arming Air Bag System."
2. Remove center console.
3. Remove glove compartment.
4. Remove the central electric board.
5. Disconnect electrical connectors for left crash sensor, contact unit, right crash sensor, front passenger air bag module and connector to main wiring harness.
6. Remove wiring harness retaining straps.
7. If necessary, guide front crash sensor wiring back into passenger compartment.
8. Using tool 9259, remove control unit shear-off retaining nuts.
9. Using a suitable wrench, remove the remaining attaching nuts, then the control unit with protective cap.
10. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Prior to installation, ensure control mounting contact surface is bare down to the metal.
b. Use a 1/4 inch socket to tighten the shear-off bolts.
c. After completing installation, arm air bag system as described under "Air Bag System Disarming And Arming."
