Hazard Light Switch Inoperative

Vehicle Type:
911 Carrera (996) /911 Carrera 4 (996)

Model Year:
As of '99 (X)

Concern:
Hazard warning light switch cannot be operated, or sticks.

Information:

In some instances, the hazard light switch may stick or jam because of insufficient clearance between the hazard button and the hazard switch housing. As of February 7, 2000, a modified switch housing is installed production (Figure 1). The modified housing has reinforcing ribs to prevent the housing from collapsing, should the tolerance in the dashboard opening be on the tight side.

When addressing a complaint of hazard light sticking, a new modified hazard switch housing should be installed.
