The new Boxster (987) and Boxster S (987) engines also use the familiar VarioCam camshaft adjustment system. This system features the familiar "vane-type adjusters", via which map controlled adjustment of the timing of the intake camshafts is carried out. To improve gas exchange, the map for VarioCam in the Motronic control module has been retuned. This is instrumental to achieving the high specific output and torque values.
