Timing Component Alignment Marks: Locations

Check position of camshaft adjusters. The engraved arrows -A
and B- on the camshaft adjusters must be aligned with the notches
-arrows- on the timing chain housing -C- and the copper-coloured
chain links. The distance between tooth -1- and tooth -2- of the
camshaft adjusters must be exactly 16 rollers of the camshaft
roller chain. As of the middle of 2005, timing chain housings with
two notches were installed with the inscription MPI and FSI. On
this 3.2-l engine with intake manifold injection system, use the
marking MPI for the adjustment.
