Eliminating Noise Symptoms - Reworking CD Box

General information

Symptoms

Buzzing noises from around the CD box.

Causes and remedial action

Buzzing noises can be heard while driving due to tolerances between the CD box housing and the CD drawer.

In the event of a complaint, felt strips must be affixed to the CD drawer and CD box housing to remedy the situation on vehicles manufactured before the specified date of introduction June 2005.

Preliminary work

1. Remove CD box. Refer to Removing and installing cassette/CD box

Reworking CD box

1. Remove top and bottom drawer.
1.1. Release drawer -2- of CD box -1- at the control button -arrow A- and open it slightly -arrow B-.
1.2. Press in locking lugs at the sides -arrows C- and take drawer -2- out of the CD box -1-.







2. Stick felt strips on to the drawer.
2.1. Cut one felt strip measuring 60 mm x 40 mm.







2.2. Cut three felt strips measuring 8 mm x 8 mm.
2.3. Stick a felt strip -1- to the middle of the bottom drawer -3-.
2.4. Stick felt strips -2- to the top drawer -3-.

3. Fit top and bottom drawer.
3.1. Push drawer -2- into the CD box -1- ( -arrow A- ) until the locking lugs engage at the sides -arrows B-.







3.2. Open and close drawer -2-, check that drawer opens and closes correctly.

4. Stick felt strip on the CD box housing.
4.1. Cut a felt strip measuring 136 mm x 20 mm.







4.2. Stick felt strip -1- to the bottom of the CD box housing -2-.

Subsequent work

1. Install CD box. Refer to Removing and installing cassette/CD box
