Diagnosis information - DME (DFI)

Oil temperature stuck/implausibly high

NOTE:
- The fault is detected when:
- the measured oil temperature is below -10 °C (14 °F) with engine running more than 60 s and coolant temperature more than 50 °C (122 °F) (P0195 - stuck low),
or
- the measured oil temperature is above +110 °C (230 °F) with engine running and coolant temperature less than 70 °C (158 °F) (P0298 - stuck high),

- Monitoring of electrical faults (open circuit, short circuit) takes place in a separate diagnosis.

Diagnostic conditions
- Coolant temperature more than 50 °C (122 °F) for more than 60 s (stuck low) - P0195
- Coolant temperature less than 70 °C (158 °F) (stuck high) - P0298
- Vehicle voltage more than 9 V
- Engine running more than 10 sec.
- No fault entered for coolant temperature
- No fault entered for oil temperature sensor

Possible fault causes
- Loose contact or corrosion on connectors or lines
- Short circuit between lines
- Oil temperature sensor faulty
