Diagnosis information - DME (DFI)

Valve lift control, both banks

NOTE: Diagnosis detects that the valves of both banks are stuck in the small or large lift by way of the vibration behavior of the camshafts.

Diagnostic conditions
- Produce small lift:
- Time after engine starts more than 5 minutes
- Engine speed between 1,250 rpm and 1,600 rpm
- Mass air flow between 180 mg/Stroke and 350 mg/Stroke

- Produce large lift:
- Time after engine starts more than 5 minutes
- Engine speed between 1,250 rpm and 2,100 rpm
- Mass air flow between 300 mg/Stroke and 600 mg/Stroke

Possible fault causes
- Engine oil pressure too high or too low
- Both solenoid hydraulic valves faulty
