Calibration
CalibrationCalibration must be performed with the PIWIS Tester after replacing the convertible top or replacing a control unit. During calibration, the respective potentiometer values for convertible top and convertible top compartment cover are determined in the end position. If the potentiometer values are plausible, the values are stored. Six calibration values are calculated from these potentiometer values for the convertible top and four for the convertible top compartment cover.

The convertible top has ten main components made of 26 % aluminium and 20 % magnesium. The remaining portion of the convertible top is made of steel forgings, covering material, intermediate layer, roof liner, as well as gaskets and mounting parts. The solid lightweight design leads to increased torsional rigidity of the convertible top frame.
The bearing points are mostly fork-shaped bearings which make an essential contribution to the high stability of the roof construction. The covered bearing surfaces contribute to a visually harmonious appearance of the pop-up linkage.
The convertible top is based on the predecessor, although many details were optimized. The water drainage on the convertible top was improved by adding additional water drainage to the front water channel. This outlet serves to discharge the rain water collecting in the header bow when the vehicle is stationary into the seal of the A-pillar via the corner piece of the seal. The improved water drainage reduces rainwater from possibly dripping on the vehicle seats when the convertible top is wet.
The scratch resistant glass rear window with integrated rear window heating was adopted from the previous 911 Carrera (996) model. It provides clear visibility especially during the colder months. Signs of wear and tear from weathering will be kept to a minimum. The rear window is made of single-sheet safety glass and is fastened to the convertible top using a service friendly replacement method. Inner and outer frames are held together with clamps. Repair costs for a required replacement of the rear window can be kept low due to this, since the entire convertible top fabric covering does not need to be replaced. The Porsche logo is integrated on the lower edge of the rear window.
The surface finish of the convertible top has been improved by optimizing the seam design. The visible styling edges play an important role in the high-quality appearance of the convertible top's exterior shape. Together with the high-quality convertible top covering, these Porsche styling elements help to give the cars a brand-specific look.
The outer textile covering of the convertible top is extremely durable and its UV light stabilizers make it resistant to fading. The overall high-quality impression of the convertible top is achieved on the inside with the high-quality black fabric lining, the full convertible top frame trim as well as the good interior acoustics.
This reduces wind noises with the convertible top closed to the level of the 911 Carrera Coupe.
