Preliminary work

Preliminary work for ELV control unit

1. If a new control unit has to be installed, the values and codings must be read out using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818 prior to removing the "old" ELV control unit.
2. Remove steering column.

* Risk of damage to load or to the control unit


-> Remove the ignition key and switch off load before disconnecting or removing load.





Installation position

1. Unscrew fastening screw -1-.

2. Lift the ELV control unit and pull it out of the steering column.

1. Place ELV control unit in steering column.

2. Secure ELV control unit with the fastening screw -1-. -> Tightening torque: 3.6 Nm (2.5 ftlb.)±0.5 Nm (±0.5 ftlb.)

Subsequent work

1. Install steering column.
2. If the control unit was replaced, the control unit must be adapted to the vehicle using the 2nd generation PIWIS Tester 9818.
