Oil Pump: Service and Repair

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Drain engine oil.
3. Remove oil pan.
4. Remove gasket and seals and clean mating surfaces.
5. Remove three oil pump attaching bolts and remove pump.
6. Remove four pump cover bolts, being careful to prevent ball seat, ball, and pressure relief spring from flying out.
7. Remove driven gear, driving gear, and shaft.
8. Clean and inspect all parts.
9. If clearance between pump body and gears is greater than .079 in., replace gears.
10. Reassemble pump, then reverse steps 1 through 5 to install.
