Fuel Tank Removal and Installation

1. Disconnect battery ground cable.

2. Remove filler cap and drain fuel from fuel tank.

3. Disconnect pump/gauge sending unit electrical connector.
1983 Models
- Located adjacent to spare tire well in trunk
1984-87 Models
- Located under the trunk ahead of the right rear wheel

4. Position suitable jack beneath fuel tank.

5. Separate filler tube from fuel tank.

6. Remove fuel tank retaining bolts, then gradually lower fuel tank with jack.

7. Disconnect fuel supply, return, and vent hoses.

8. Reverse procedure to install.
