Wiper Motor: Service and Repair


1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove wiper arms, outside spindle bearing nuts, junction block, and plate attaching bolts.
3. On vehicles equipped with A/C, reposition evaporator to provide clearance as follows:
a. Remove ignition coil.

b. Remove four bolts securing plenum cover panel, Fig. 8.
c. Remove heater/air distribution housing assembly as outlined under ``Heater Core, Replace.''
d. Remove four bolts securing evaporator housing and position housing out of way. Two upper bolts securing evaporator housing are accessible from inside passenger compartment, under the left side of the instrument panel.
4. Remove windshield wiper assembly.

5. Remove crank nut (A), Fig. 9.
6. Remove three motor retaining bolts (B), then remove motor.
7. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. When installing motor, ensure that arm (C) and crank (D) are aligned when motor is in park position, Fig. 9.
b. Ensure that defroster ducts are correctly aligned before installing instrumental panel.
c. Install wiper assembly junction block after assembly is in position.
d. Ensure that motor is in park position before installing wiper arms.
