Thermostatic Air Cleaner: Testing and Inspection

1. Remove the valve assembly from the vehicle, complete with thermostat and attaching linkage.
2. Dip the thermostat in a container of water preheated to the temperature listed below and note the operation of the butterfly.
NOTE: When testing a non-turbo valve, ensure the cable is in the same position as when installed in the vehicle.

Non-Turbo 73°F (Valve Closed) 98°F (Valve Open)
