Fuel Pressure: Adjustments

1. Disconnect control pressure line from fuel distributor.
2. Connect pressure gauge between fuel distributor and control pressure regulator line, Fig. 10. On all models, the safety function is governed by a pulse sensor in the pump relay which is activated by the ignition pluses.
3. Disconnect fuel pump relay and connect a jumper wire across terminals 30 and 87 in relay holder.
4. Bleed pressure gauge by repeated opening and closing of valve with the pressure gauge directed downward and fuel pump connected.
5. Close pressure gauge valve.
6. Operate the fuel pump.

7. Line pressure should not vary from a test value of 64.0-72.5 psi (4.5-5.1 bar) or a setting value of 66.9-69.7 psi (4.7-4.9 bar).
8. If pressure is too high, reduce thickness of shims, Fig. 35.
9. Tighten the screw plug to 9.6-11.1 lb.ft (13-15 Nm).
