Initial Inspection and Diagnostic Overview

NOTE: Before changing the control module, first try clearing the trouble codes. Switch ON the ignition and wait at least 40 seconds. Then check to see whether the trouble codes have been generated again. If they have, change the control module.

1. Remove the lower storage compartment from the center console. Plug in the SRS tester and clear the diagnostic trouble codes, if any.
2. Start the engine. Check whether the SRS lamp lights up for about six Seconds and then goes out. For cars with a control module having part # 91 24 074, the engine must be left running at idling speed for about 15 minutes. Then check whether the SRS lamp indicates a fault (by flashing).
3. Unplug the SRS tester. Fit the lower storage compartment
