EDU Temperature Warning Function
Application:
1992 9000
In 1992 a temperature warning function was added to the EDU display to indicate to the driver that the possibility for icing exists. This function may not have been programmed into some 1992 cars up to VIN N1018405. The correct operation of this function is as follows:
^ On start up: If the outside temperature is between +3~C (37~F), or -3~C (26~F) the outside temperature will be displayed on the EDU automatically. This temperature reading will remain on the display until either another function is selected with the INFO button, or until the outside temperature goes above +6~ C (43~ F) or drops below -6~C (21~F).
^ When vehicle is in motion: If the outside temperature falls to +3~C (37~F), or rises to -3~C (26~F), the outside temperature is automatically displayed, regardless of what has been selected on the EDU. The outside temperature will remain displayed either until another function is selected with the INFO button, or until the outside temperature goes above +6~C (43~F) or drops below -6~C (21~F). If you encounter a customer with a complaint that this function is not working properly or not at all, please follow the EDU programming action steps.
Action:
1. First inspect the campaign modification plate under the hood. Some cars were modified prior to shipment and if so, will be stamped in square "B1".
2. Verify that that function has been programmed into the vehicle using ISAT.
^ Call up the menu shown in Figure 5 in the usual way (see Service Manual 3:1, p. 13). Select Command 208 and press enter.
^ Check that the correct EDU function is programmed for the car variant you are working on. If not, press F1 (CHANGE) and change the programming to the correct EDU function in the usual way. See Figure 6.
NOTE:
IF THE EDU IS ALREADY PROGRAMMED FOR TEMPERATURE WARNING FUNCTION, THE DISPLAY (DISPLAY 2) WILL SHOW NUMBERS INSTEAD OF EDU FUNCTIONS. SEE TABLE FOR EXPLANATION OF THESE NUMBERS.
3. If temperature warning is to be programmed or variant corrected, press F3 (CODE) and continue with the steps that follow.
If no programming is needed, press ALT and quit in the usual way.
