Air Bag Control Module: Description and Operation

The electronic control unit contains the safety sensor, a capacitor pack and the diagnostic unit. It is important that the electronic unit be mounted facing the front.
The diagnostic unit continuously monitors the airbag system. If a system fault should occur, the SRS warning lamp will light up. The symbol will flash for about 10 minutes, then the light will remain on steady until the ignition is switched off. If a fault is still present the next time the ignition is switched on, SRS lamp will again flash for approximately 10 minutes. Fault indications are stored as fault codes in the diagnostic unit memory.
