Air Bag Control Module: Service and Repair

1. Disable airbag system, refer to Air Bag / Arming and Disarming.
2. Remove radio and radio contact box, if equipped.
3. Remove center console as follows:
a. Remove rubber dust excluder between center console and gear lever, then the ashtray.
b. Remove ashtray holder mounting screws, then the holder.
c. Remove four center console lower mounting screws, then withdraw console slightly and remove two upper retaining screws.
d. Remove center console.
4. Remove bottom steering column bearing cover, then the knee guard.
5. Remove floor air duct mounting screws, then place duct aside.
6. Dismount relay and cruise control ECU mounting brackets. Let components hang by cables.
7. Cut cable ties and unplug orange connector, then disconnect ground connections where appropriate.
8. Remove electronic unit bracket mounting screws, then lift out assembly.
9. Disconnect connectors from electronic unit, then remove connectors from bracket.
10. Remove electronic unit to bracket mounting bolts, then the electronic unit.
11. Reverse procedure to install. Torque electronic unit bracket screws to 4.4-6.6 ft. lbs.
