Knock Sensor: Service and Repair

Knock sensor





To remove

1 Unplug the knock sensor's electrical connector.

2 Remove the knock sensor from the engine block.


To fit

1 Wipe the mating surface dry.

2 Bolt the knock sensor to the engine block.

Important: The correct tightening torque is extremely important in order for the control module to receive the expected signal strength.

Tightening torque
Saab APC (M88) 20 Nm (14.7 lbf ft)
Saab DI/APC 13 ± 2 Nm (9.6 ± 1.5 lbf ft)

3 Connect the knock sensor's electric lead to the car's wiring harness.
