Maintenance
The generator has fully-enclosed ball bearings which do not normally require lubrication except in conjunction with other repairs.
The generator is driven from the crankshaft pulley by means of a multigroove belt. To avoid slipping or unnecessary overloading of the bearings, the belt must be correctly tensioned.
Belt tension is self-adjusting on cars equipped with a V6 engine.
