FAULT DIAGNOSIS, FUEL CONSUMPTION
Output Signal To Trip Computer

Fault Symptom.
Wrong fuel consumption figures displayed. Diagnostic procedure

1. Checking The Control Module's Output Signal
Unplug the trip computer connector Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
Take a reading of the output signal across pins 8 and 21.
With the engine warmed up and running at idling speed, a reading of 7.1 Hz/2.5 - 4.5 ms should be obtained.

If the reading is OK, check EDU.

If the reading is not OK, continue with point 2.

2. Checking The Wiring Harness
Check The Wiring harness between pin 34 of the Trionic control module and pin 8 of the trip computer for continuity / shorting to ground.

If the wiring is OK, refer to Before Replacing A Control Module.

If the wiring is not OK, rectify the fault.
