Reversing Light Switch

FAULT DIAGNOSIS, REVERSING LIGHT SWITCH
Input from reversing light switch on manual gearbox cars

Fault Symptom.
Basic charging pressure only.

DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE

1. Checking The Reversing Light Switch
Connect the Scan Tool.
Ignition switch in the ON position.
Select "READ ON/OFF".
Select "TORQUE LIMITATION".
Check the reversing light switch by engaging reverse gear.

If the Scan Tool reading is OK, refer to Before Replacing A Control Module.

If the Scan Tool reading is not OK, continue with point 2.

2. Checking The Reversing Light
Check that the reversing light comes on when reverse gear is engaged.

If the reversing light is OK, the fault is located in the lead between pin 13 of the control module and pin 86 of the reversing light relay.

If the reversing light is not OK, check wiring and associated parts.
