Torque Converter: Service and Repair

NOTE: Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.





Removal
1. Remove the transmission from the car, refer to Replacement.
- Use retainer tool No. 87 92 293, or equivalent, to secure the torque converter.
Suspend the transmission in support tool No. 87 91 451, or equivalent.

CAUTION: The filler plug with bleeding nipple must be removed before the tool is installed.

2. Using grips tool No. 87 91 766, or equivalent, and lift out the torque converter.

Installation
1. Place the grips on the new torque converter and install it.
- Use retainer tool in order to secure the torque converter.
2. Install the transmission in the car.
