Solar Sensor: Description and Operation

Sun Load Sensor (Solar Sensor)
The solar sensor is situated on the top of the dashboard. It mainly measures infrared radiation (radiated heat).

In the case of increased solar radiation and outside temperatures above +15 °C the ACC control module increases the speed of the ventilation fan because a lower temperature has to be achieved. Fan speed is changed immediately when solar radiation changes. Owing to the fact that the solar sensor chiefly measures heat radiation, it cannot be tested with light from a fluorescent lamp and incandescent lamps must be used for this.

If no solar sensor signal is obtainable, a default value of 0 V (night) is set.
