The model used in the Saab 900 is AF 22.
The type designation of an automatic transmission consists of three groups of alpha-numeric characters as in the following example: FA44 903 95BW00301.
The three groups of letters and numerals are Separated by spaces and contain different information about the automatic transmission, as shown in the following breakdown.

First group:
Drive mode:
F = Front wheel drive

Type of gearbox:
A = Automatic transmission

Number of forward gears

Total Gear ratio, top gear (code)

Second group:
Engine/Car adaptation:
9 = Automatic transmission adapted to the B204L engine.

Development version

Third group:
Serial number
Automatic transmissions are designated by nine characters, as follows:
95 = production year
B = production month, as follows: A B C D E F G H J K L M
