NOTE: Component identifier numbers used in the following illustrations relate to specific steps in the procedures below.





Removal
1. Move the selector lever to position P and remove the key.
2. Loosen the selector lever housing by such an amount that it can be turned to one side.
3. Unplug the electrical connector.
4. Remove the ignition switch contacts.
5. Remove the ignition switch.
- The screws must be heated with a hot-air gun to soften the thread lock adhesive.

NOTE: Protect the adjacent plastic components.

Installation
1. Install the ignition switch with thread lock adhesive part No. 74 96 268, or equivalent, on the screws.
2. Install the ignition switch contacts with thread lock adhesive on the screws.
3. Plug in the electrical connector.
4. Install the selector lever housing.
5. Check the parking lock clearance.
