Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Anti-Frost Thermostat

1 Plug in the Intelligent Saab Tester (ISAT) scan tool and select "READ FAULT CODES" from the menu. If any diagnostic trouble codes are present, continue in Trouble Code Tables.
2 With the engine running, select "ACT. OTHER FUNCT" from the ISAT scan tool menu and then "AC". The compressor should now be activated.
3 If it is not, check that a power supply of about 12 V is present on one of the- anti-frost thermometer's connector contacts.
If the voltage reading is OK, continue fault diagnosis as described in "Climate Control System, ACC".
4 If the voltage reading is not OK, connect a BOB and check the wiring for continuity/shorting between the Integrated Central Electronics (ICE) module and the anti-frost thermostat.

NOTE: The ISAT scan tool command should still be activated.

5 If the wiring is OK, continue on "Before Changing an Electronic Control Module".
