Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Hazard Flashers

1 The direction indicators work, but the hazard flashers do not.
Unplug the hazard flasher switch and connect a jumper lead between pins 1 and 4 of the connector.
2 If the hazard flashers work, the fault is in the switch. Change the switch.
3 If this does not work, check the grounding of the switch by measuring the resistance between pin 1 of the connector and a good grounding point.
The resistance should be < 1 ohm.
4 If the ground connection is OK, plug in a BOB and check the wiring for continuity/shorting between pin 21 of the Integrated Central Electronics (ICE) module connector and pin 4 of the switch connector.
5 Continue fault diagnosis as described on "Before Changing an Electronic Control Module".
