Exhaust Temperature Sensor: Service and Repair



Exhaust Temperature Sensor (602)

WARNING: Risk for burn injuries when working on the exhaust pipe.

To remove
1. Unplug the connector for the temperature sensor, detach is from its holder and carefully lower the cable.







2. Raise the car.
3. Remove the lower turbocharger pressure pipe.







4. Bend out the corner of the heat shield slightly.







5. Remove the temperature sensor.







To fit
1. Lubricate the threads sparingly with 30 20 971 Screw-thread paste and fit the temperature sensor.







Tightening torque 45 Nm (33 lbf ft).

2. Lift up the temperature sensor cable, making sure it does not get pinched or is exerted to chafing.
3. Bend the corner of the heat shield back in place.







4. Fit the turbocharger delivery pipe.







Tightening torque 22 Nm (16 lbf ft).

5. Lower the car.
6. Plug in the temperature sensor connector and secure it.
