Unnecessary Replacement of the EHPS Control Module with Diagnostic Trouble Code C1550 37

This bulletin concerns the unnecessary replacement of the control module with diagnostic trouble code C1550 37 and comes into force immediately. WIS edition 2007-1 will contain this information.

Saab 9-3 with EHPS.

Background

Fault diagnosis in WIS for diagnostic trouble code C1550 37 "CONTROL MODULE, INTERNAL FAULT" recommends control module replacement, which is wrong.

The diagnostic trouble code does not affect the EHPS system, and if the fault does not occur again within 40 driving cycles the diagnostic trouble code will be erased automatically.

Symptom description

Diagnostic trouble code C1550 37 and no warning lamp lit.

^ +30 voltage has been disconnected while the engine is running.

^ Low battery voltage when running the starter motor.
