Return line, power steering

To remove

Important
Scrupulous cleanliness must always be observed during all work with hydraulic components.


1. Drain the power steering fluid reservoir, using oil suction equipment.
2. Undo and lift aside the reservoir.





3. Clean carefully around the return hose connection to the power steering fluid reservoir.
4. Remove the return hose from the power steering fluid reservoir.
5. Raise the car.
6. Diesel: Remove the lower engine cover.





7. LHD: Cut off the cable tie holding the return line to the steering gear.
8. Place a receptacle under the car and remove the return hose from the steering servo.





To fit
1. Connect the line to the steering gear.

Note
Use new seals with the banjo connector.

Tightening torque 30 Nm (22 lbf ft)





2. LHD: Fasten the return line to the delivery line with two cable ties.





3. Diesel: Refit the lower engine cover.





4. Lower the car and fit a clip around the line and the A/C lower pressure pipe. Also fit a clip to the delivery hose.





5. Connect and fasten the line to the power steering fluid reservoir. Ensure that the white line on the line is aligned with the arrow on the reservoir.





6. Fit the steering servo reservoir.
7. Fasten the return line to the suspension strut tower with a cable tie.
8. Bleed the power steering system.
