System Testing - Alternator

VISUAL INSPECTION:

^ Excessive electrical loads on the vehicle.
^ Constant running of the vehicle at low RPM.
^ Loose or broken accessory drive belt.
^ Loose generator mounting bolts.
^ Fusible link between generator and starter is blown or corroded.
^ Battery cable loose

PERFORM ARBST TEST FOR GENERATOR PERFORMANCE.

SYSTEM PERFORMANCE TEST
Before connecting any test equipment to the generator, make sure:
^ The engine and ignition are off.
^ The accessory drive belt is good and at the right tension.
