Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Sensor/Switch - Performance Engines Only

Use the following chart to obtain the proper resistance to produce the desired gage reading. Engine off, key on. Dial up the resistance on the potentiometer using a Digital Multimeter on the Ohms setting. Disconnect the wire harness from the Oil Pressure Sensor (located on right rear of the engine). Clip one lead from the potentiometer to the Tan wire using a diagnostic probe device. Clip the other lead from the potentiometer to a good engine ground.

The Oil Pressure Switch/Sensor is installed only on the Performance Engine vehicles. The switch and sensor are housed in a single module.

Switch should close at: 9.6 - 40 kPa (1.4 to 5.8 psi) measured on dropping pressure.

Switch at connector terminal: A (labeled sensor)

Sensor resistance: 0 kPa (0 psi) 5 - 13 ohms
552 kPa (80 psi) 175 - 200 ohms

Sensor at connector terminal: B (labeled switch)
