Dimming

All radios feature continuously dimmable nighttime incandescent backlighting for the graphics on the pushbuttons and trimplate. The incandescent backlighting voltage is supplied from the vehicle light switch. The internal lamps are returned to batter,' (-) through the vehicle low side Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) dimmer control circuit.

The LCD display is backlit whenever ignition voltage is applied without regard to the radio power switch state. When the vehicle light switch is turned on, a step-dim will be performed with continuous variable dimming available using the panel dimmer control.
