Cassette Controls and Operation

The following features and controls are available when using the tape player.

Cartridge Insertion and Play

The cassette player can be operated whenever ignition voltage is present and the radio power switch is On. The clock will be displayed during tape operation.

When a tape is inserted while the radio is playing, the radio mode will be suspended, and the tape player will be automatically selected.

The radio preset buttons will change function upon the insertion of a tape. as identified by the alternate legends. After initial use, the cassette will be played on the same side used prior to the last ejection. The track arrow indicates whether the top or bottom track is being played.

When the tape player is operating, the MTL, Dolby, and CLEAN indicators become available and appear in the display if the corresponding feature is active.

When the power switch or ignition are turned Off during tape operation, the tape will stop and the head and pinch rollers will retract to protect the tape. The tape will remain in the player, and tape playing will resume when power Is reapplied if the tape has not been ejected by the user.

When a cassette is ejected. radio operation will resume.

The cassette player employs motorized tape loading. A tape can not be loaded when the ignition or power switch Is Off.

When the end of the current side is encountered, the auto-reverse feature will automatically reverse the play direction and play wilt be resumed in the new direction.

Pressing the REV button will cause the tape to be rewound in the direction opposite to the play direction. Without further input. the tape will be moved to the beginning of the current side. When the beginning of the side is reached, reverse is cancelled, and play will resume in the current direction.

If in the fast forward mode and REV is depressed, then the tape enters the reverse mode. If in the reverse mode and FWD is depressed, then the tape enters the fast forward mode.

Reverse and fast forward modes are cancelled and play resumes after cycling the power switch or vehicle ignition. Reverse and fast forward modes are cancelled when ejecting the tape.
