Determining Factory Backup Unlocking Code For Secured Radio

LOCK-OUT PROTECTION
A factory unlock code (different from the user code) is permanently stored in the radio for use if the user code is unavailable. The factory code can be determined only by an authorized service facility. A procedure is available to authorized service personnel to obtain an encrypted form of the factory code using the radio controls and display. Using an established computer network, the authorized service facility can then obtain the actual factory code which will unlock the radio and return it to the SECURE state.

DETERMINING BACKUP UNLOCKING CODE FOR SECURED RADIO.
If the security function is activated and the radio is disconnected from battery power, the radio will display "LOC". The radio will not operate until the correct code is entered. If the customer code is lost or unavailable, use the following procedures to determine the factory backup code. This procedure requires a tone dialing telephone.

1. Turn the ignition switch to "ACC" or "ON" position.
2. Press and hold the "2" and "3" buttons until a four digit number appears on the display. This is the radio display code; record this number.
3. Using a tone dialing telephone, call 1-800-537-5140 or 1-317-451-8965 (USA and Canada).
4. When the computer prompts, enter your retailer code in the following manner: Press 8, then the account number, then press "*" (star key). For example, if the account number is 12345, the 812345* would be entered.
5. When advised, enter the four-digit radio display code obtained in step 2, then press "*" (star key). The computer will respond with the factory backup code; record this number.
6. To unlock the secured radio, refer to "Unlocking System After Power Loss" earlier in this section.

NOTE: If hardware tampering is detected by the system or in certain other hardware failure conditions, the display will show "ERR9" and the system will be permanently locked. If this display cannot be cleared by removing and reconnecting all power, the unit must be returned to an authorized repair center for service.
