General Information

THEFT DETERRENT SYSTEM
This product features a user programmable theft deterrent system intended to discourage theft by rendering the product inoperable after battery power interruption. The theft deterrent feature is identified by the words THEFT DETERRENT conspicuously printed on the face of the product.

Upon initial installation, the theft deterrent system is disarmed until programmed by the user. This allows normal installation and testing to be conveniently performed.

If battery power is removed after the system has been armed, the display will indicate "LOC" and the product will not operate. To restore operation of the product, the user determined four digit code must be reentered.

An alternate permanent factory code is stored in the unit which can be used to unlock the system in the event the user code is lost or forgotten.

The theft deterrent status is maintained in non-volatile memory and will retain the most recent user-programmed state following subsequent battery power interruptions. If the theft deterrent has been armed, the system will be locked after battery power interruption until a valid unlock code is entered

OPERATING STATES
The theft deterrent system has three main operating states. They are:
VULNERABLE - The theft deterrent system is not active. The unit behaves as if the theft deterrent system did not exist.
SECURE - The theft deterrent system is active and is watching for loss of battery voltage. The radio is fully operational.
LOCKED - While the theft deterrent system was in the SECURE mode, it detected loss of battery voltage and the radio has been locked. All non-security related functions are disabled.
