1. Record radio presets, then disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Remove dash panel end cap screws, then pull caps outward to disengage clips.
3. On models equipped with arm rest, remove arm rest assembly.
4. Lift parking brake lever and remove parking brake handle cover.
5. Place transaxle selector lever in Neutral position, then remove ash tray and cup holder.
6. Disengage ash tray lamp socket from mount, then disconnect cup holder wiring harness.
7. Remove window and mirror control switch assembly from console by sliding forward and lifting at rear of switch. Disconnect switch electrical connectors.
8. On models less arm rest, remove rear console screw cover and screws.
9. Remove lower trim extensions at front of console assembly, then remove front console screws and slide console rearward.
10. Disconnect cigarette lighter electrical connector, then disengage lamp socket from lighter assembly.
11. Remove console from vehicle, then depress radio, heater and air conditioning controller fastener center pins to release.
12. Remove fasteners and pull controller cover rearward, then disconnect traction control/fog lamp/rear defroster electrical connector.
13. Remove radio mounting screws, then disengage spring clips and pull radio outward to access electrical connectors.
14. Disconnect radio electrical connector and antenna, then remove radio.
15. Disconnect blower, A/C and illumination switch electrical connectors, then disengage temperature and mode control cables from heater and air conditioning control by depressing lock tabs while pulling upward on cable housing.
16. Remove heater and air conditioning controller and instrument panel closeout seal, then separate wiring harness from H-bracket, Fig. 9.
17. Remove dash panel junction block screw, then disconnect junction block electrical connector.
18. Release junction block locking tabs, then slide block off mounting pads and pull outward through H-bracket.
19. Remove H-bracket and lower reinforcement bracket fasteners, then lift reinforcement bracket off mounting studs and move rearward.
20. Remove Data Link Connector (DLC) and steering column filler panel screws, then disengage hood release cable from handle as follows:
a. Release cable housing from its mount.
b. Pull cable and housing downward until cable can pass through cutout in handle.
21. Remove instrument cluster as described in Electrical section, then separate dimmer switch wiring harness from dash panel reinforcement.
22. Separate passenger's side air bag wiring harness from transverse beam and energy absorber, then disconnect glove compartment door stops and allow door to hang fully open.
23. Remove glove compartment and compartment door striker, then separate antenna cable from lower right side of dash panel reinforcement.
24. Remove nut and screws, Fig. 10. , then the instrument panel pad and reinforcement assembly.
25. Rotate center air outlets downward, then push outward on outlets from behind dash panel to remove.
26. Remove center air outlet housing.
27. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Torque dash panel mounting nut and screws to 7.4 lb ft
b. When connecting temperature and mode control cables to heater and air conditioning controller, ensure white cable is connected to temperature control and black cable is connected to mode control.
