Sunroof Drive Cables





SUNROOF DRIVE CABLES

REMOVAL

1. Remove sunroof glass by positioning glass in vent position and removing sunroof glass attaching screws.

2. Remove sunroof motor as outlined in "Sunroof Motor Removal" procedure.





3. Remove left locator and right locator and microswitch by removing locator screw, inserting a small screwdriver into locator screw hole, tilting screwdriver toward center of car and sliding it forward.





4. Lift sunroof drive cable ends out of guide assembly and pull cables out of sunroof cable guide tubes.

INSTALLATION

IMPORTANT: Cables should be replaced if they are kinked. Cables should always be replaced in pairs and greased before installation.

1. Push greased sunroof drive cables into guide tubes being careful not to kink cables.

2. Engage cables into guide assemblies.

3. Slide guide assemblies to full rearward position to time cables.





4. Install left locator and right locator and microswitch by positioning locators into guide assemblies slightly ahead of their installed position, inserting a small screwdriver into locator screw hole, and pushing rearward and down on locators to engage them.

5. Install locator screws.

Torque: 4 Nm (35 in-lbs)

6. Install sunroof motor as outlined in "Sunroof Motor Installation" procedure.

7. Power sunroof guides to 25.4 mm (1 in.) before vent position from full rearward position.

8. Install sunroof glass.






9. Apply Loctite 222 Small Screw Threadlocker (or equivalent) to sunroof screws and install. Do not tighten screws at this time.

10. Adjust sunroof glass 1 mm (0.40 in) below roof surface at front of glass and 1 mm (0.40 in.)above roof surface at rear and tighten fasteners.

Torque: 3-4 Nm (27-35 in-lbs)
