Sunroof Glass Panel Seal Replacement





SUNROOF GLASS SEAL

REMOVAL

1. Power the sunroof to the VENT position.

2. Remove screws attaching sunroof glass to guide assemblies, lift glass out of roof opening.






3. Remove seal by pulling it off of glass starting at splice joint.

INSTALLATION






1. Starting at rear center of sunroof glass, begin installing seal by pushing it onto edge of glass panel and gently pulling on it while installing.






2. Approximately 102 mm (4 in.) prior to completing installation, lay the end of the seal over top of the beginning of the seal. Cut the seal so there is an extra 3.18 mm (1/8 in.) of seal past the point where the seal lines up with the beginning of the seal.

3. Apply Loctite 410 Black Toughened Instant Adhesive (or equivalent) to splice joint area where two ends of seal meet.

4. With the approximately 102 mm (4 in.) of seal unattached, push two ends of seal together at glue joint.

5. Install remainder of seal by pushing seat onto edge of glass panel. The 3.18 mm (1/8 in.) extra seal material should provide a tight seal at splice Joint.

6. Position sunroof glass onto guide assemblies md align mounting holes

7. Apply Loctite Small Screw Threadlocker 222 (or equivalent) to sunroof glass attaching screws and install them, proceeding to the next step of re-tightening.






8. With sunroof in closed position, adjust sunroof glass to 1 mm ((1.04 in.) below roof surface at front of glass and 1 mm (0.04 in.) above roof surface at rear of glass and tighten sunroof glass attaching screws.

Torque: 4-5 Nm (35-44 in-lbs)
