Technician Safety Information

WARNING: Always wear goggles and wrap clean cloth around fittings, valves and connections when performing work that involves opening the refrigerant system. Keep work area well ventilated and do not steam clean or weld on or near any of the air conditioning lines or components. If liquid coolant does touch the eyes, bathe eyes quickly in cold water, then apply a bland disinfectant oil. See an eye doctor.

Before removing and replacing any of the air conditioning refrigeration lines or components, the refrigerant must be completely removed. The refrigerant system may be evacuated and charged using an air conditioning service charging station or a manifold and gauge set with a 30 lb. drum of R134a. Never charge the air conditioning system through the high pressure side of the system.

For efficient operation of the air conditioning system, be careful not to contaminate the system with foreign materials, such as dirt, air, or moisture. Contamination of the air conditioning system will change the chemical stability of the R134a refrigerant, in turn changing the viscosity of the refrigerant oil. They will also effect pressure, temperature and create corrosion and abnormal wear of moving parts.
