Headlamp Switch


Refer to "Lever Combination Switch (LCS)" for testing. Combination Switch



Repair/replace as needed.


If this component is good go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.


Park Brake Switch


Check the BRAKE telltale. It should light with the park brake On. It should not be lit with the park brake Off (under normal operating conditions).


Check for park brake switch resistance.


Switch Resistance: Open when the park brake is Off. Less than one ohm when the park brake is On.


DRL Relay


The Lock, Unlock and DRL relays are interchangeable only with each other.


Substitute another relay to see if the problem is fixed. Repair/replace as needed.


If this component is good go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.

Headlamp Bulbs


Visually inspect the high and low beam bulbs. Check resistance through the bulb.


Check for OPENS/SHORTS.


Repair/replace as needed.


If this component is good go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.


Instrument Panel Cluster and DRL Module


The DRL Module is not separately replaceable from the instrument panel cluster.


With the key in the RUN position the following readings should appear when taking measurements at the pins of the instrument cluster harness connector (instrument cluster removed).


BLACK CONNECTOR


Pin L Battery voltage

Pin M Battery voltage

Pin K Continuity to ground

Pin N 0 Volts (headlamps On and headlamp switch in high beam position or flash-to-pass)

Battery voltage (any other time)


Pin 0 0 Volts (headlamps On and headlamp switch in low beam position)

Battery voltage (any other time)

NATURAL CONNECTOR


Pin L Battery voltage

Pin F Continuity to ground (with park brake On) Open (with park brake Off)

If any of the above checks fail, repair an open/short in the malfunctioning circuit.


If all the above checks are correct, the problem is most likely the cluster (connections, flex circuits, etc.) or the DRL module (which is located internal to the cluster housing). Replace instrument panel Cluster Housing. Verify that the complaint has been fixed.


Repair/replace as needed.
