Before checking the ground circuit from the faulty component all the way to the ground stud, check the circuit from the splice pack to ground by testing some of the other subsystems grounded by the same splice pack. If the other subsystems function properly, it is most likely that the path from the splice pack to ground is good (or at least one of the paths is good with redundantly grounded splice packs).


Right Side Forward Lamp Splice Pack


Location: Behind right front headlamp.


The right side forward lamp splice pack provides a ground path for the right side forward lamp harness. If one of the following systems is operating normally, the ground circuit is most likely good.


^ Coolant level switch

^ Washer pump

^ All right side forward lamps Check for OPENS/SHORTS. Repair as needed.

If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.


Rear Body Splice Pack


Location: Above left rear shock tower.


The rear body splice pack provides a ground path for the rear body, decklid, and hatch harness. If one of the following systems is operating normally, the ground circuit is most likely good.


^ License, CHMSL, cargo lamps

^ Fuel pump

^ Washer pump (Wagon)

Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.


If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.

Circuit 150P

Location: Connects left front lamp pigtail connector cavity C to underhood junction block connector cavity E5.

Type: Black 22 gage wire

Function: This circuit provides ground for the left front marker and left front park/turn lamps.


Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.

If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.

Circuit 150L

Location: Connects right front lamp pigtail connector cavity C to forward lamp ground splice pack cavity C.

Type: Black 22 gage wire

Function: This circuit provides ground for the right front marker and right front park/turn lamps.


Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.

If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.

Circuit 150A

Location: Connects underhood junction block connector cavity E6 to forward lamp ground splice pack cavity B.

Type: Black 14 gage wire

Function: This circuit provides ground for the left front marker and left front park/turn lamps.


Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.

If this component is good. go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.


Circuit 150Y

Location: Connects the forward lamp splice pack connector cavity F to right forward lamp ground ring terminal.

Type: Black 14 gage wire

Function: This circuit provides ground for the right side forward lamp ground splice pack.


Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.

If this component is good. go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.

Circuit 550KK

Location: Connects the left license lamp taillamp assembly connector cavity B to rear body ground splice pack cavity C.

Type: Black 22 gage wire

Function: This circuit provides ground for the left license lamp.

Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.


If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.


Circuit 550VV

Location: Connects right license lamp connector cavity B to rear body ground splice pack cavity B.


Type: Black 22 gage wire


Function: This circuit provides ground for the right license lamp.


Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.


If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.


Circuit 550MM


Location: Connects the rear body ground splice pack connector cavity A to rear body ground ring terminal.


Type: Black 12 gage wire


Function: This circuit provides ground for the rear body ground splice pack.


Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.


If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.


Circuit 55ONN

Location: Connects the left taillamp assembly connector cavity C to rear body ground splice pack cavity E.


Type: Black 16 gage wire


Function: This circuit provides ground for the left taillamp assembly.


Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.


If this component is good, go to the next item indicated on the "Complaint-Condition" chart.

Circuit 550PP

Location: Connects the right taillamp assembly connector cavity C to rear ground ring terminal.


Type: Black 16 gage wire


Function: This circuit provides ground for the right taillamp assembly.


Check for OPENS/SHORTS.

Repair as needed.
