Fuel Gauge Calibration Specifications:

TEST PROCEDURES (CLUSTER GAGES)

FUEL GAGE
1. Disconnect the in-line fuel connector located in the rear compartment on the driver side behind the carpet just forward of tail lamp in-line connector.
2. Using tester (Saturn Tool) SA9205Z (or equivalent), and a digital multimeter (set to the OHMS scale), connect the leads to terminals B and C of the connector going to the front of the vehicle
3. Turn ignition to the RUN position (do not start engine).
4. Set resistances as shown in the table.

If the Instrument Panel (IP) cluster fuel gage is not accurate, service cluster.

The following checks must be done in descending order with respect to fuel level (i.e. start at full - 43.5 ohms and proceed to 3/4 - 73 ohms and so on down the list).

FUEL LEVEL CHECKS
If the pointer is within the shaded area for each of the given input resistances, then the gage is working properly.
