Resetting Adaptive Parameters

RESETTING ADAPTIVE PARAMETERS
Because the PCM/Transaxle Controller (TC) has the ability to adapt to various transaxle conditions, it is necessary to reset the adaptive parameters after certain repairs have been performed. The adaptives can be reset using the service stall system (SSS). The adaptives should only be reset after the following repairs have been made:
^ Replacing a transaxle.
^ Replacing a line pressure actuator.
^ Transaxle overhaul when new clutch plates are installed.
^ Replacing a valvebody.
^ Replacing the PCM for a transaxle related failure.

NOTE: When replacing the PCM for an engine related problem the transaxle adaptives should be transferred from the old PCM to the new PCM.

After performing a repair, the vehicle must be driven to allow the adaptives to learn new shift times and pressures before returning the vehicle to a customer. Refer to Learn-in procedure. Automatic Transaxle Controls

REPAIR VERIFICATION
After making a repair to the transaxle it is important the repair is verified before returning the vehicle to the customer. The vehicle must be driven so that each upshift and downshift is accomplished at least twice, and then the PCM/TC must be checked for diagnostic trouble codes and information flags. Not all faults will illuminate an indicator lamp and the memory must be checked using a Scan tool or by flashing out the diagnostic trouble codes and/or information flags.
