SURGES AND/OR CHUGGLE

Definition:
Engine power variation under steady throttle or cruise. Feels like vehicle speeds up and slows down with no change in accelerator pedal.
^ Verify proper TCC operation and customer understanding of TCC.
^ Verify proper A/C clutch operation.
^ Monitor block learn valves on scan tool. If system is running lean (block learn near 190) refer to Diagnostic Aids DTC 44. If the system is running rich Diagnostic Aids DTC 45. Testing and Inspection

Check:
^ EGR Operation
^ Generator output voltage
^ Vacuum lines for kinks or leaks
^ Fuel filter and fuel pressure
^ Spark plugs for cracks, wear, burned or heavy deposits on electrodes

Check for output voltage using Saturn Basic Engine Analyser (SBEA) tester.
