Fuel System Pressure Relief Procedure

WARNING:
^ Do not allow smoking or the use of open flames in the area where work on the fuel system is taking place.
^ Anytime the fuel system is being worked on, disconnect the negative battery cable, except for those tests where battery voltage is required.
^ Whenever fuel line fittings are loosened or disconnected, wrap a shop towel cloth around fuel lines to collect fuel, then relieving fuel place cloth in an approved container.




Fuel System Pressure Relief:




RELIEVING FUEL PRESSURE
1. Disconnect negative battery cable at battery.


2. Release fuel pressure at valve using gage bar kit (Saturn Tool) SA9127E located on fuel delivery line to engine and install cap.


PRESSURIZING FUEL SYSTEM
1. Prime fuel system.
a. Cycle ignition on for 5 seconds and then off for 10 seconds.
b. Repeat step 1a twice.
c. Crank engine until it starts (maximum starter motor cranking time is 20 seconds).
d. If engine does not start, repeat steps 1a-1c.

2. Run engine and check fuel system for leaks.

NOTE: It may be necessary to turn the ignition switch on and off several times to prime the fuel system.

IPJB - Instrument Panel Junction Block:




NOTE: If fuel system is completely dry, then it may be necessary to prime fuel system by applying 12 volts to interior fuse panel fuel pump test hole or turn the ignition On and Off to operate fuel pump.
