EVO Subsystem Test


1. Disconnect high pressure line at power steering pump and install Power Steering System Tester tool No. SA9134C or equivalent.
2. Connect a Powertrain Diagnostic Tool (PDT) to ALDL diagnostic port. Follow tool manufacturer's instructions.
3. Open gate valve on steering system tester.
4. Run engine until normal operating temperature is reached. Replace any power steering fluid lost during tester installation, then bleed system if necessary.
5. Select ``EVO Subsystem Test'' using the PDT tool, in the special test menu.
6. Using the PDT, command the EVO actuator to provide ``full assist.'' Record power steering fluid flow rate, as indicated on the power steering system tester. If flow rate is not between 2.35-2.85 gallons per minute, replace EVO actuator.
7. Using the PDT, command the EVO actuator to provide ``no assist.'' Record fluid flow rate, as indicated on steering tester. If flow rate is not between 0.4-0.9 gallons per minute, replace EVO actuator.
